We’re super excited to share that Aperture Mining has been selected as part of the first-ever Decentralized Nodes program by the Web3 Foundation! This is a huge milestone for us and our nominators (that’s you!).
This program is a big deal in the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystems. It replaces the old 1KV program and focuses on choosing validators that really stand out when it comes to performance, security, and community contributions. Out of hundreds of applicants, Aperture Mining was chosen to include two of the 152 Kusama nodes for the inaugural cohort.

The Selection Process
The Web3 Foundation had a tough job narrowing down the applicants:
- 276 applications for Polkadot nodes
- 452 applications for Kusama nodes
After applying strict criteria and listening to community feedback, they picked a select few to join the program. The validators chosen (including us!) will be nominated for the next four months.
